Challenge 21 - Make Us Laugh D.T.
I have had this cd for a while now. Its called Serendipity and is from the My Craft Studio stable of CD's.
I have made one other card from the images and that went down very well, so l have had this image in the 'Back Burner' for a while and when l saw this challenge l knew it would fit in well. While l am researching for how to make a card, l like to make sketches and thumbnails on what l want to do, this evolves as l go along. I never throw the sketch away as it will come in handy for another card. They are not detailed sketches just a few lines with a few words to drop hints when l come back to it.
The card base its self was easy to construct its just an 8" square that's been cut in half.
The circle toppers were cut 7" - 6 half inch and the last one was 6". I cut the coloured circles out using my eCraft machine. As the printed image needed to be cut to size l used the ekSuccess Circle cutter. Its a great bit of crafting equipment. I have noticed that it cuts a lot better on a glass mat and not the self healing type. But that's just my own opinion.
As you can see l have gone for very bright in your face colours. I did this as i wanted to make the card stand out if it was on a display. It would be one that makes you go up to it and have a closer look.
Using my Caliber and the embossing folder l ran the card stock [cut into 25mm strips] through 2 times being careful to match the design up when l turned the card stock round.for this as its easy to match up and layer them down.
I came up for the wording myself and the speech bubble was from a 'Glyphs Font'. Have a look at them they are in most computer Font lists. They can be enlarged up and used as clip art. There are lots of fonts on the internet that will give you access to other clip art. While you don't have any options as to what they contain they can be great to use in borders etc.,they can also be printed out in any colour your fonts are.
This card took me approx. 30 minutes to construct so would be great for a quick to make idea.
Don't be scared to use clashing colours. Card making follows fashion just as much as any other surface texture does. So have a look at what's in the shops and on the box. Pick out a style this one l picked out 'Clashing' and 'Block Colours'.
Don't be scared go for it after all its just some card stock and 30 minutes of your time. Experiment and Enjoy your self
