Hot Pick 1207
Happy Birthday Text Stamp. [We all have them in sets of stamps and to me they are sometimes fillers]
Pro=Markers/Specrum Noir pens in several strong colours.
Dye Based Ink Pad like Memento Tuxedo Black
Retro Style A5 in size Papers.
3 Sheets White Card Stock made up into a 8”x8” Card I Used Neenah Classic White Card
Normal crafty equipment and stock items.

HOW TO MAKE UP:
After you have made up your 8”x8” card base. Print out your choice of backing paper and then secure into place. You don't want to cut your other paper toppers out just yet as the finished size of your Printed topper will be the dimension for the final cutting.

Placing your stamp onto your chosen stamping block give the stamp a good inking. What you want to do as its a very deep cut stamp just have a few test stamping to get the feel of how its going to stamp. This can be done on scrap paper or Photocopy paper. Don't throw these away as you can always use later by making a collage and then using a water wash paint the ‘canvas’ Right back to the stamp.

Taking a sheet of Neenah trim this into two A5 pieces. You want to do two stamped images and have some spare so that you can test out the pro-markers and check the colouring. I always test out like this on the card stock lm going to be using. If you used scrap paper then its not going to give you the same result.

If your not to familiar with this style of painting, then do a search on the internet and look at how they have used block colour. This should give you some feeling of how your going to re create this in your own way.

As you can see i have used at most 5 or 6 pens. There is not to much shading as your going to let the image you have stamped do that for you. Try to keep lines clean and straight. Don't forget you have 2 stamped images so practice out on your 2nd one.

When your happy and have finished doing your colouring, this is when your going to trim down to size. Take your time leave a border around the edge. If you have maybe a square set of spellbinders then use them to make to shape your looking for.

When your finished with the topper place this onto your 1st of the two papers you have chosen but have a few of the same colours in. I used a square design for one and then a striped one for the 2nd.

You can see i placed the stamped image at a angle. This again goes with the style of the art that was being made by some of the artists. They didn't do square. Then i cut this out leaving a good border around the image. Making sure l had enough space to stamp my text.

The final paper was secured onto the card at an angle. Now then if you look at the two corners you will see i have tried to place the same distance for each corner on the band. This will give the card some symmetry. Well that's what l was thinking at the time but l could be so way of the mark hahaha

Anyway here is my 1950’s feel card. Hope it will maybe inspire you to try for yourself. Don't forget this stamp set comes with a very big thumbs up. I have 4 of the stamp sets and have been impressed by them. I have another card coming next week using another image from this company.

Any questions then please send me a message and l will do my best to get back to you asap.
Happy Crafting
Alan
