LETS MAKE A CARD!
This card will be broken down into several projects that will be brought together to make a card.
MAIN STAMPED IMAGE
Stamp out using the Memento Tuxedo Black Ink. When dry using your selection of pro-markers start to colour and build up the image. When l had finished the colouring l looked at what l had coloured and then wanted to ‘Highlight’ it. Using the Glossy Accents l filled in the Eye part and the Boots.
The dress was decorated with the Coloured PVA from Cosmic Shimmer. When this was done l place to one side to dry.
THE TAG
I cut out a tag shape that was fatter than normal [If there is demand l will make the file available for a free download]
When your doing this paint distressing look its a lot easier than you think. All you need is a good strong base to work on. That's why l have suggested a buff manila folder [I have about 150 stashed away as they make great bases for things that are going to be decorated.]
Cover the tag with one layer of the colour you want to show through the top layer. Leave to dry. When it is dry take your PVA Glue and cover the tag. Now then before you go slapping the glue all over it you have to go in ONE DIRECTION ONLY [l am planning to make a short video on how to do this technique and it will be available from the That's Crafty Blog Site. Its early days but one day soon!]
When the glue has dried you start to put the top layer onto the tag. Again its put on in ONE DIRECTION. When the paint starts to dry the glue under the top coat will pull it apart. You can use a heat gun oat this point. If you concentrate on one area it will start to bubble. This can add to the finished look so don't worry when this happens.
When the tag was dry take the Aged Mahogany ink pad and edge all the edges of the tag.
The final part on the making of the Tag was to take the EYE stamp from the collection and go round the edges. While the stamp is out and in use get hold of the backing paper and the Sepia Ink pad. Just randomly stamp all over the paper. Doing this will bring the Topper and base together even though they are different shades and hues by doing this stamping it brings it together and it has a common link.
BUILDING UP THE CARD
Cover the base card with the Paper you have chosen. Lay the larger ribbon into place and then secure the 2nd ribbon on top.
Taking your thin satin ribbon thread through the hole at the top and secure into place. Add some of those small ‘Pony’ Beads at the end just to make the ribbons lay flat to the card front.
This is where you will need a very good strong glue. You have to secure the Tag on to the card front. Now then the tag by now is quite heavy due to layers of paint and glue. So gently fold into a flat shape and secure. Press down so that its going to lay flat.
The next step is to take the string and then loosen the wind. I placed another 5 ‘Pony’ beads onto each length. Again a good strong clear glue was used to secure into place.
The final job was to place the stamped image onto the card. Carefully cutting around the stamped image leaving a small edge. This will be made to ‘Disappear’ by using the Blue Grey Pro-Marker around the outer edge of the stamped image.
Put some Dimensional’s onto the back of the image and then secure into place.
There you have it a card that looks very hard to make but when you know the way to do things its not. Just stand back and listen to all the praise and ‘How did you do that?’
Any questions please message me and l will do my best to reply a.s.a.p
Hi Alan, hoping your feeling a lot better these days, love your cute image, and your colouring is just fabulous. hugs Shirleyxxxx
ReplyDeleteHi Alan, I just popped over to look at your creations after seeing your DT card on the Cards for Men Challenge Blog. Now where do I start? Amazing - i love the way you think 'outside' of the box, so to speak. How you managed to see flowers with those Andy Skinner stamps is unfathomable! Very interesting work, I'll try to pop back every so often to see what you are up to! Nice to see a male crafter for a change too, although I dare say you hear that a lot Karen x
